Student accomodation

There is insufficient private accredited student accommodation available near all campuses. The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and Student Housing Infrastructure Programme (SHIP) aims to provide another 300 000 beds at the 26 public universities and 50 TVET colleges at over 300 campuses in all nine provinces over 10 years. This goal means that number of beds provided each year must increase from present average of 4 000 to 30 000 a year.
